Larger grille openings allow more cooling to key components. The redesigned front bumper and splitter redirects air around the front wheels to reduce drag.

Reshaping the GT-R's side skirts helps prevent air flow from being drawn underneath the vehicle, allowing for more consistent downforce and grip. The area around the C-pillar has been refined to reduce turbulence.

The GT-R's rear has been extended at the sides to accelerate air away from the back of the bumper, helping to pull hot gases away and cool the exhaust.

A carbon-fiber trunk lid adds stiffness, while weighing nearly half as much as a standard trunk lid. Its smooth surface has been painted so you won't see a difference, but since lighter equals faster, you'll feel it on the track. Top it with the carbon fiber spoiler for mighty downforce, and increased stability.

The headlights feature four LED units to create an extremely natural light, replicating daylight, while also offering increased illumination. The super-wide-beam headlights expand the area of illumination toward the sides of the car, enhancing visibility, especially when cornering.

The average car has exposed working gear underneath, creating lift and drag and slowing you down. The GT-R, of course, isn't an average car. Its underbody is covered by composite panels, giving it a flat, aerodynamic surface.

That big spoiler and all those scoops and vents aren't just there to look cool - they're all doing something. The spoiler is creating downforce. Those ridges on the air dam and vents on the back bumper are managing air flow towards the rear. The vents behind the front fenders are cooling the brakes and creating more downforce, and the scoops on the bonnet and the signature grille are cooling the engine.

At the front of the car, the flat underbody is accelerating the air and channelling it over the brakes, cooling them down. At the back, a carbon-fibre diffuser takes that accelerated air and slows it down, creating a vacuum effect that helps the GT-R stick to the road, or the track.

Special attention to detail means the GT-R feels familiar the moment you sit down. The leather dashboard is hand-selected for tone and examined for even the smallest of imperfections. Everything you see and touch is crafted with the same level of care and detail, whether it's an air vent designed to operate flawlessly for years, or a switch that's subtly etched to enhance its feel.

The distinctive black leather interior with red accents is designed with performance in mind. The bolstered sports seats - designed by legendary manufacturer Recaro - hold you in place when cornering at high speeds, while cut-outs in the driver's seat cushion facilitate leg movement.

The combination meter uses meshing gears as a design cue. The tachometer is placed in the centre, with the large gear change indicator on the upper right, supporting the driver with easy readability when driving on the circuit.

Completely redesigned, the GT-R has a large 8" multi-touch screen that puts all the information you need in a single location, including audio, navigation and the Multi-Function Display system with driver-configurable display.

For the new model, paddle shifters are mounted on the steering wheel, helping to ensure that a rapid-fire shift is always easily within reach, regardless of wheel position.

For road, track, and nearly anything in between, the GT-R has a three-mode system featuring three switches - R Mode, Normal Mode and Special Modes, which allow on-the-fly adjustment of specific parameters for the transmission, suspension and stability control. Supercar performance with amazing flexibility - at the touch of a switch.

The rotary control on the centre console lets you control key functions through the 8" touchscreen. By rotating the dial, or pushing it to the left and right, you can scroll through all the menus and easily select the option you require.

With the RearView Monitor, when you back up, a camera mounted discreetly on the rear of the vehicle helps you see what's directly behind you. The system also includes a convenient wide 180 degree view for an even better look.

The 11 speaker Bose audio system works with the performance features of the GT-R. The aluminium speaker mounts in the doors give the body rigidity, which has nothing to do with music and everything to do with performance. In the back, two subwoofers between the seats were designed to use the trunk as a giant bass enclosure.

Each GT-R engine is hand-assembled by a single technician known as Takumi - and proudly bears a plaque carrying their signature - in a dust and temperature controlled clean room much like those used for Formula One racing engines.

The GT-R's award-winning 3.8-litre V6 24-valve twin-turbocharged engine now delivers 570PS at 6800 rpm and 637Nm of torque, representing an increase of 20PS and 5Nm, courtesy of individual ignition-timing control of the cylinders and extra boost from the turbochargers.

The GT-R now provides two dual 5" titanium exhaust outlets. Titanium is notoriously difficult to work with, but meets the demanding requirement to aid with cooling the engine's prodigious output. Each exhaust is hand-built by a master craftsman, and is specifically designed for an individual vehicle, making it a true example of performance art.

The longer a shift takes, the less time power is being put to the ground. So for maximum acceleration, the GT-R has paddle-shifted 6-speed sequential dual-clutch transmission meaning you can snap off lightning-quick gear changes in just 0.15 seconds when in R-Mode - almost as quickly as you can blink.

A special Bilstein DampTronic driver-adjustable shock absorber system offers a high level of control in different situations. For 2017, the system has been further developed, for a smoother ride in Comfort Mode, and enhanced steering feel in R Mode.

6-piston front and 4-piston rear calipers are machined from a one-piece "monoblock" of aluminium for extreme rigidity with light weight. Cross-drilled rotors feature diamond-shaped ventilation ribs, while a full-floating rotor allows the outer disc to expand away from the hub, helping reduce the tendency of the rotor to warp.

Parking sonar gives you an added ally in your pursuit of parking, with sensors on all four corners looking out for static objects and giving you an audible warning when you're getting close.

Sometimes a collision is unavoidable. But Nissan's Zone Body construction makes it safer for everyone on board. Combining impact-absorbing structures with a high-strength cabin, this advanced body construction provides maximum protection for you and your passengers.

If your GT-R senses a collision may be imminent, it can activate pretensioners to "cinch" up the seat belt to help hold you in place. If a collision does occur, seat belt force limiters can "give" a small amount to help reduce the force of impact.

The Nissan Advanced Air Bag System has dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt and occupant classification sensors. The GT-R also comes with supplemental front seat-mounted side impact airbags and roof-mounted curtain side-impact airbags for front occupant head protection.

Instead of the traditional 50/50 torque split between front and rear axles, the GT-R's electronically controlled All-Wheel Drive system is designed to provide up to nearly 100% of available torque to the rear wheels and send up to 50% of torque to the front wheels. This provides the steering feel and response of a Rear-Wheel Drive vehicle, while still giving the confidence and control that only an All-Wheel Drive vehicle can offer.

GT-R's advanced Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system helps you stay on your R Mode steered path and actually sends more power to the appropriate wheels when it senses oversteer or understeer too, helping you drive with superior power and control.

All the power in the world is useless if you can't get any grip. So when Traction Control System (TCS) senses drive-wheel spin, it responds by helping reduce throttle, which helps you both regain grip and maintain control.

In sudden-braking situations, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) pumps the brakes quickly to help prevent wheel lockup and help you keep control.

Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) monitors weight distribution and adjusts rear brake force to compensate for added weight from passengers or cargo.
